Rediscover your passions in 7 days challenge

When we transition from maiden to mother it can be easy to feel like we have lost ourselves. To feel like we have lost our identity. This can then go on to affect our interests and hobbies, not to mention when we become mums we lose all that free time we used to have. However, we need hobbies, we need passions, these are the things that connect us to ourselves and bring joy and stress relief to the busy crazy world that is motherhood!

So if you are feel like you dont know who the fuck you are or what the fuck you like beyond your role as mum? Then try this my friend - the rediscover your passions in 7 days challenge

Day 1: Reflect on past joys or hobbies

  • Challenge: Think back to what you loved doing before you had your kids. Was it drawing, writing, dancing, a sport, cooking?

  • Activity: Write down 3-5 activities that brought you joy in the past and consider why you haven't done them recently

  • Journal prompts: What childhood hobbies or activities did I lose touch with after becoming a mum? Why did I lose touch with them? Was it because they no longer resonate or because I haven't had the space for them? How did I used to feel after I did them? How does the thought of them make me feel now?

Day 2: Try something new

  • Challenge: Pick one new activity you have always wanted to try but never got around to, eg painting, yoga, baking, gardening

  • Activity: Spend 15-30 minutes today exploring that activity, even if it’s just watching a video, listening to a podcast or searching on social media

  • Journal prompts: How did I feel trying something new? Did it spark any excitement or interest? Does this feel like something I'd like to do more often?

Day 3: What energises you?

  • Challenge: Pay attention to the moments in your day that make you feel energised and excited, or drained and tired.

  • Activity: Throughout the day, write down any tasks or moments that felt enjoyable or gave you energy. E.g., cooking, organizing, spending time outdoors, exercising

  • Journal prompts: What activities make me feel alive or energised, even in the smallest way? How could I start doing these more often? What activities drain my energy?

Day 4: Get creative

  • Challenge: Participate in a creative activity without any pressure or expectation. This could be doodling, journaling or even getting creative on Canva or social media, creative stuff just like this is my creative outlet

  • Activity: Set a timer for 20 minutes and create something purely for fun

  • Journal prompts: How did this activity make me feel? Did it remind me of something I used to enjoy or want to explore further? What are 3 more creative activities I might enjoy?

Day 5: Mini adventure

  • Challenge: Do something out of your usual routine or try something different.

  • Activity: It could be visiting a local park, taking a different route on your walk, doing something other than watching Tv or scrolling social media like your creative outlet from the day before

  • Journal prompts: How did this change of scenery or routine impact my mood? Did I discover any new interests or hobbies along the way? What one new thing or change in routine you could do tomorrow?

Day 6: Revisit an old hobby

  • Challenge: Reflect on an old hobby or interest that you stopped doing after becoming a mum or even back to when you were a kid

  • Activity: Spend time today revisiting that hobby. Even if it’s just reading about it or watching a video on it, looking it up on social media or listening to a podcast

  • Journal prompts: Did reconnecting with this hobby bring back any joy or memories? Did this energise me or drain me? Is this something I want to explore again?

Day 7: Create a passion plan

  • Challenge: Based on your reflections over the week, identify 2-3 hobbies or activities that stood out.

  • Activity: Create a simple plan to incorporate these hobbies into your life, even in small ways. E.g. I’ll spend 30 minutes once a week painting, I'll go to a pilates class once a week, I’ll cook one new recipe a week

  • Journal prompts: Which hobbies or activities made me feel the most like ‘me’ again? Which activities brought me joy and energized me? How can I make space for them in my life going forward? E.g. add it to your calendar and talk to your partner about how you can make it work for you as a family
